TRAINEE WAGES AND ALLOWANCES TO BE INCREASED

As a result of the State Wage Case decision of 20th August 2008, to increase award rates of pay for adults by $26 per week from the 1st pay period on or after 1st October 2008, government trainees will receive a pay rise and many allowances for PSA members will increase by 3.978% from the same date.

The majority of PSA members are covered by Enterprise Agreements whose negotiated salaries are higher than the award rates. The third and final salary increase for the 2006 South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement will be 3.5% from the first pay period on or after 1st October 2008.

Allowance increases (from 1/10/2008)

  • First Aid Allowance $ 12.22 per week

  • Motor Vehicle Allowance 0.71 cents per km

  • Dental Assistants Radiography Allowance $620.75 per annum

  • Allowance for handling badly decomposed body $ 21.68 per body

  • Academic Allowance: An employee who is classified as ASO1 and who, prior to 1 June 1991, was in receipt of an Academic Allowance, will continue to be paid that allowance at the rate of $499.09 per annum

Fisheries Officers Allowances
An officer, whilst at sea, will be paid the following allowance, for each completed 24 hour period or part thereof where such part is 7.5 hours or more.

  • Commercial vessel in excess of 12 metres in length OPS3  $150.77
                                                                                       OPS4  $169.48
                                                                                       OPS5  $183.00

  •     Other Vessels:                                                        OPS3 $ 94.62
                                                                                        OPS4 $ 97.74
                                                                                        OPS5 $ 99.82

  • Coxswains Certificate Allowance $273.46 per annum

  • Master Class V Certificate of Competency shall be paid an allowance of $462.70 per annum

    Diving Allowance:

  • Employees who are required to dive in the normal course of their duties, should be paid the following allowances:

  • An employee who is an experienced diver in addition to his/her ordinary rate, be paid an allowance of $ 30.52 per week

  • Where an employee on any day performs work as a Supervising diver $ 22.30

  • If an experienced diver (in addition to the allowance of $30.52) be paid $ 41.38 per day

  • If a trainee $ 32.96 per day

  • Diver's attendant $ 16.27 per day

Linguistics Allowance

On-call allowance

  • An employee who is rostered to be on-call during a full Saturday, Sunday or public holiday or any day that the employee would normally be rostered off duty, will be paid an allowance of $ 27.60 per day

CPI Increased Allowances

Other allowances, which include allowances for meals, incidentals and tea money, are to be increased from the first pay period on or after 23 December 2008. The allowances will be increased by the movement in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) up to the September Quarter 2008.

Trainee Wage Rates
From 1st pay period on or after 1st October 2008:

Where the Accredited Training course and work performed are for the purpose of generating skills, which have been defined for work at Wage Level A.
