FAMILIES SA CRU MEMBERS VOTE TO ACT

Crisis Response Unit (CRU) members met on Friday 26 September to consider the response from the Families SA Executive to issues raised first on 22 August. They have decided that the response is inadequate.

Issues raised by CRU members include a general lack of resources and the resulting unmanageable workloads, inadequate recruitment and retention policies and a continued use of short term renewable contracts with a lack of permanency.

In response, the Families SA Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive met with CRU members on 12th September to address the issues. While it was clear from what was said at that meeting that the Executive recognised the validity of the issues raised, members were told that there was little more that could be done.

Members met again on Friday 26 September and resolved that:

This meeting of PSA members:

Notes the unsatisfactory response to issues raised by CRU members on 22 August.

Demands that, as an interim measure, an additional 5 staff be provided to the CRU and that a process be established to deal with the issues that have been raised.

To meet on Friday October 10 to review progress and, if this demand is not met, to consider an Industrial Campaign including:

Work to Rule

A ban on night shift

A ban on Ministerials and the provision of briefings to the Executive.

Common lunch and crib breaks.

Members will be kept informed of developments
