CHILD PROTECTION MATTERS!
blic Service Association (PSA) Worksite Representatives met on 13th January 2009 to discuss the current state of Child Protection in South Australia and the Department for Families and Communities (DFC) response to members claims that Child Protection is in crisis. It is clear that the State Government thinks it can ignore child protection and refuses to allocate appropriate funding. DFC has made minimal improvements but decisive action is required by both parties if they are to adequately respond to child protection issues in South Australia. Worksite Representatives unanimously passed the following resolution: "This
meeting of PSA Worksite Representatives notes the correspondence
received from the Department for Families and Communities, Director
Human Resources, Natalie Hamood on 22nd December 2008.
The PSA continues to be concerned that Families SA does not have the capacity to manage the ever increasing number of new notifications. Members believe the measures noted in the correspondence will have minimal impact on the current crisis in South Australian Child Protection. This meeting of PSA Worksite Representatives determines to continue the Campaign and calls for an urgent meeting to discuss the Workload Management review and Team Management/Boundary Realignment review to occur by COB 23rd January 2009" PSA Industrial Officers will visit Families SA District Centres during the next few weeks to speak with members about the current campaign and ways to progress it. Should you wish to organise a specific time please contact PSA Industrial Officers, Vanessa Ravenhill on 8205 3251, vr@cpsu.asn.au or Jean-Guy Townsend on 8205 3233 or email jgt@cpsu.asn.au PSA WORKING FOR MEMBERS IN FAMILIES SA 15 January 2009
