PUBLIC SECTOR BILL DEBATE
Debate on the Public Sector Bill commenced in the House of Assembly this morning. In important developments, the Opposition and Independent MP Mr Kris Hanna, tabled amendments which addressed the concerns identified by the PSA. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Martin Hamilton-Smith and Shadow Minister for Public Sector Management, Mr Steven Griffiths, Mr Hanna and other non-Government speakers recognised the important role of the Public Sector. All indicated concern with the current Bill. Debate is expected to continue tonight and potentially beyond. It
is not known when the Legislative Council will consider the Bill.
The valuable independent role of the Legislative Council will become
evident as Council members express their views.
