The House of Assembly debate on the Public Sector Bill ended late Tuesday night (17th February).
The Government had the numbers, as expected, to defeat amendments by
the Opposition and Independent MP Kris Hanna. Their opposition to the
Government's Bill and proposed amendments were very important as they
sought to fix the worst elements of the Bill, and give a clear
indication of what will now be considered in the Upper House.
The Bill is expected to be dealt with by the Legislative Council during
March, where the Opposition, minor Parties and Independents have the
numbers to get amendments through.
Thank you to those members who attended the House of Assembly debate yesterday.
Those members who had planned to attend Parliament today will not now be required to do so.
It will be vital however, for members to attend the Upper House debates - dates will be advised when known.
Details of concerns with the Bill are here.
