TAFE SA LEARNING MATERIALS TRANSITION REVIEW

TAFE SA has advised Public Service Association(PSA), in line with the Skills Strategy, that a review of Learning Materials, including ESP Production House, SMART Media and Regency Publishing, unit will occur.

PSA Industrial Officer Jean-Guy Townsend attended the staffing briefing session on Thursday 12th March 2009. At this session it was announced that a two week consultation period would commence. The PSA will visit each work group within that period to gain member feedback and encourage members to nominate to become a Worksite Representative during this Review. Ideally, a representative from each business unit should be elected to form a Working Group. The purpose of this Working Group will be to collate member feedback specific to each unit and then present to TAFE SA this feedback on behalf of PSA members. Feedback is essential to ensure members concerns can be appropriately addressed. Please provide any comments to your Worksite Representative or Industrial Officer.

Members were critical of the report which led to this review. The report used generalities when specific details were required and contained various instances of incorrect information. The report also included a new organisational structure which indicated that a number of jobs would be cut. When questioned, TAFE SA officers indicated that the structure was "rubbery" and could be changed. This highlights the importance of members providing feedback. Should members be able to produce evidence that profits or workloads will decrease or increase respectively please provide this feedback.

To confirm, Human Resource Principles have been agreed to by the PSA and TAFE SA. These HR Principles will ensure that members employment entitlements are protected throughout this process.

If you have any questions, concerns or would like to become a Worksite Representative please contact PSA Industrial Officer Jean-Guy Townsend on 8205 3233 or jgt@cpsu.asn.au
