PSA REPRESENTATION ON DISTRICT CONSULTATIVE FORUMS
The PSA has previously informed members of the establishment of District Consultative Forums (DCF) to facilitate effective consultation at the District Level. These forums were operating in the Districts last year. Due to the establishment of the new Regions it is now necessary to establish new Consultative Forums to match the new Regions. The DCF is a consultative body which provides the opportunity for the District Director and nominated representatives from the Local Leaders Executive and District Leadership Team to consult with the Unions on matters relevant to district operations, for example, district learning plans, provision of professional service support functions from the District Office, establishment of district programs and new resourcing and workload initiatives. Membership of the DCF includes the Regional Director, one nominee from the Regional Leadership Team, two representatives nominated by the PSA (one regional office based and one school site based), two representatives nominated by the AEU (one district based and one school site based). Regions intend to hold the first forum before April 09 therefore it has been agreed that previously nominated representatives may attend the first meeting. The
PSA urgently requests nominations from members to represent the PSA
on these forums. Unfortunately there were insufficient nominations
previously and most Districts did not have PSA representatives on the
forums. It is important to ensure PSA representation on the DCF as
the issues discussed are very relevant to the work of PSA members.
PSA
members (particularly Professional Officers and SSOs) are strongly
encouraged to express their interest in representing the PSA on the
DCF. Where there is more than one nomination for either type of
representation in a Region, a ballot will be held.
PSA
members with an interest in representing PSA members in their
District on these forums should email PSA Industrial Officer, Kerrin
Martin: kjm@cpsu.asn.au.
as soon as possible.
