PROTECTIVE SECURITY OFFICERS
The Public Service Association has received numerous complaints from members working as Protective Security Officers for SAPOL. Members are complaining about the conditions they have to work in when working on level 11 of the Attorney Generals Department, 45 Pirie St, Adelaide. Members are required to work 10 hours some times without a break, in an open lift area with only a chair to sit on, the chair only recently been supplied. Previously they had to stand for the 10 hours. The Public Service Association Occupational Healthy Safety and Welfare Industrial Officer recently inspected the area and spoke to members working in that area. Members informed him that in other public buildings security staff sit behind bench and have equipment such as computers and phones. These resources are not available in this workplace. The PSA is writing to SAPOL demanding that breaks for officers are guaranteed and that additional resources be supplied. SAPOL are required to provide a safe working environment for there employees. For any other information please contact PSA Industrial Officer Keith Knipe on 8205 3297 or kgk@cpsu@asn.au. PSA WORKING FOR MEMBERS IN SAPOL 2 April 2009
