HEALTH ENTERPRISE BARGAINING 2009

The current Enterprise Agreement (EA), The South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2006 expires on the 21st December 2009.

Clause 25 states “Negotiations for a new EA may commence not earlier than 3 months prior to the expiry of this EA”.

The PSA has already commenced the process of developing a claim. This involves extensive consultation with members. Members have been asked to provide input to the PSA.

To assist in developing the claim for Professional Officers and Medical Scientists employed in Health, Sue Fraser, a Specialist CT Radiographer at the Womens and Children's Hospital, has been seconded to the PSA for three months.

Sue is visiting worksites to speak to Health Professional members. Members wanting Sue to attend may contact her on (08) 8205 3242 or email sf@cpsu.asn.au. Comments and suggestions for the next EA claim should go to Professional@cpsu.asn.au

Enterprise Bargaining is about negotiating pay increases and improved conditions with the Government. For the previous 12 years, PSA has achieved annual pay increases on the 1st of October. The last pay increase for the 2006 EA was on 1st October 2008. Details are available here.

In the 2006 EA a new salary structure, including new Work Level Definitions for Medical Scientists and the fifty five Professional disciplines in Schedule 3 of the S.A. Public Sector Salaried Interim Award were achieved. This provided an average pay rise of 15% (5% per annum). Through Enterprise bargaining this structure can be improved. Specific conditions for various occupational groups can be identified and claimed. As well as increases in salaries, conditions relating to On-Call, Recall to Duty, Overtime, Study Leave, Professional Development, Classification Progression, Shift Allowances, Rights to Private Practise will be the focus of EA negotiations.

A PSA claim is made through and on behalf of members and through our democratic processes.

PSA members should have discussions at the work site about these issues. It is helpful for all work sites to have a Worksite Representative.

For further enquiries and to arrange a visit, please contact Sue Fraser, on sf@cpsu.asn.au or Acting Assistant Chief Industrial Officer Ian Peak on ian@cpsu.asn.au or email professional@cpsu.asn.au
