CLOSURE OF THE RAH'S STAFF COUNSELLING & CONSULTANCY SERVICE
It was disturbing to see that in the General Managers Memo advising of the closure of this important and highly respected service, the first dot point stated the decision had been based on the “significant savings that can be achieved” . The PSA believes the decision to close this service is short sighted, will not achieve the overall savings that are being sought by Management and will disadvantage YOU, the members!!! Where was the consultation with, and consideration of the members in this decision? The PSA has written to both Dr Sherbon and Dr Edwards seeking a review of this decision and also to advise that this decision is in breach of the Enterprise Agreement where it clearly states that “Employers and Agencies consult in good faith, not simply advise what will be done”. The
Enterprise Agreement also states: The
PSA has advised management that as consultation did not occur in
accordance with the EA, that the PSA is in dispute with the RAH and
status quo is to remain ~ that is ~ that no changes can be made in
relation to the Counselling Service until TRUE
consultation has occurred.
The
PSA has been liaising with other major unions and will begin a Joint
Industrial Campaign involving a number of activities to show support
for the continuation of the Staff Counselling & Consultancy
Service.
The PSA will keep you posted to ensure that you have sufficient notice to ensure you are able to support your fellow workers and demonstrate your concern regarding this decision. PSA WORKING FOR MEMBERS IN HEALTH 2 July 2009
