Further to the previous PSA Information Update sent to members regarding tea breaks, the PSA provides the following information.

DECS reissued a revised circular in relation to tea breaks last week.  This circular clearly reinforces the information provided previously by the PSA:

Schools are expected to provide a tea break to all school staff in recognition of long term custom and practice.
Tea breaks are paid breaks and SSOs do not have to make up the time.
School staff are still on duty during tea breaks so services such as Front Office and the phones should be maintained, therefore tea breaks should be rostered to maintain the services but still ensure staff are able to have a break.
All school staff should be treated equally in the provision of tea breaks.
