CHILDREN, YOUTH AND WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVICE INDUSTRIAL FORUM

The PSA attended the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service (CYWHS), Industrial Relations Forum held on Tuesday 25th August 2009. The PSA was represented by PSA Councilor Chris Hall and PSA Industrial Officer Ted Szarek.

The purpose of the Industrial Relations Forum is to provide a consultative forum between CYWHS management and the recognised health unions PSA, ANF, SASMOA and LHMU pursuant to the South Australia Health Care Act and Health Care Regulations 2008. The following items were discussed:

CYWHS Accreditation

A periodic review is due in October 2009 for the current accreditation. The review may involve the whole CYWHS Region including Mental Health areas.

Ernst and Young – Efficiency Review

The Ernst and Young Efficiency Review commissioned by Department of Health recommends the development of a new Finance and Human Resource model across SA Health Agencies. Some planning workshops for Executive from Finance and HR at CYWHS have been scheduled to discuss how the review will impact on CYWHS.

Engineering and Building Services

The PSA raised an issue on behalf of PSA members working in Engineering and Building Services advising that there was a level of concern regarding outsourcing of functions. CYWHS management stated that there is no outsourcing plan. Management also stated that an asset audit was currently being conducted by Spotless on all plant and equipment to ascertain maintenance and replacement requirements.

Enterprise Bargaining

The PSA advised the meeting that the Salaried Employees Enterprise Agreement is due for negotiation in the later part of this year and that the PSA was currently conducting meetings at various work sites to discuss the EB process and seek feedback for the claim.

The PSA welcomes any issues members may wish to raise at future industrial forums.
