RECLASSIFICATION OF DENTAL THERAPISTS AND DENTAL HYGIENISTS

The PSA has been successful in gaining the following for Public Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists as from 1^st July 2009:

• An Assessment Matrix from OPS4 to OPS5 Classification

• OPS5 Classification for experienced Dental Therapists/Dental Hygienists

• PIDS for OPS5 and OPS6

• An allowance of OPS6 Classification to be paid to OPS5 Tutors and some additional hours for marking/assessments

The PSA has been advised by SA Dental Service Management today that approval has been received for the reclassification of the Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists and those that have been reclassified will be advised by letter which was forwarded yesterday.

Reclassified Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists should receive their new salary level in their pay on 2 October 2009 and back pay to 1 July 2009 will hopefully be in the subsequent pay.
