SA HEALTH RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOURS COMMITTEE DRAFT POLICY

As advised in PSA brief of 24 June 2009, the PSA was a member the Safe Conduct and Respectful Behaviours Taskforce, established last year by Minister Hill. Part of the outcome of this Taskforce, was the development of the Violence and Aggression Policy and Resource Kit. These were sent out to the regions in May 2009.

It was reported at the last SA Health Industrial Liaison Committee on Friday 18 September 2009, that a safe conduct communication strategy is only now being planned. The communication strategy includes the development of television and radio advertisements, posters and pamphlets.

On Wednesday 23 September 2009, the Public Service Association (PSA) attended the Respectful Behaviours Committee.

The first key deliverable of the Respectful Behaviours Committee is the draft SA Health Respectful Behaviours Policy. This draft policy has now been agreed 'in principle' by the committee and is now out for final consultation. PSA members are encouraged to make comment or raise concerns in relation to the draft policy to Industrial Officer, Sue Cummins, on email sc@cpsu.asn.au by midday on Friday 9 October 2009.

The other key deliverables that are in early development are:

  • SA Health wide guidelines on RB implementation.

  • SA Health wide RB Resource Kit.

  • Report to Chief Executive of SA Health.

The PSA will keep members informed upon the developments of the Respectful Behaviours Committee and consult with members in relation to the draft documentation.
