REALIGNMENT OF CLINICAL SERVICES
The PSA has received information regarding the realignment of clinical services at Southern Adelaide Health Service (SAHS). The realignment involves the transfer of vascular services from the Repatriation General Hospital (RGH) to Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) and the shift of high volume low complexity, orthopaedic surgery from FMC to RGH. These changes are in line with reforms recommended by the SA Health Care Plan. The transfer of services is planned to occur during December 2009 and January 2010. SAHS have stated a commitment to a consultative process to support the transition of affected staff. The PSA as a stakeholder in this process has met with SAHS management as part of the consultative process. The PSA is also making some recommendations with regard to the draft HR Principles. With the exception of PSA members in the Allied Health Physiotherapy (FMC) (Elective Orthopaedic component) other PSA members should not be directly affected by the change. SAHS has issued draft Human Resource Principles to cover staff affected by the change. The draft HR Principles can be accessed here.
