YET AGAIN, AUDITOR GENERAL CONCERNED WITH SHARED SERVICES
The Auditor General's Annual Report for the year ending 30 June 2009, was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday 13 October 2009. For the second successive year, the Auditor General has made Audit observations about the Shared Services initiative. The Auditor-General commented that “the timing of the quantum of savings originally expected to be achieved will not be met.” The PSA has previously commissioned reports which were provided to Government showing that the stated savings could not be achieved. Furthermore, reports are continuing to be received from members who consistently highlight concerns with Shared Services. The centralisation of Corporate Services does not add up. PSA calls on the Government to learn from the Auditor General's Report. It is not too late to reverse the implementation of Shared Services.
