PIRSA CONSULTATION UPDATE
PSA
Assistant General Secretary Nev Kitchin and PSA Worksite
Representative Dale Manson met with Geoff Knight Chief Executive, Don
Plowman Deputy Chief Executive Primary Industries and Biosecurity,
Erma Ranieri Director of Organisational Change and Development
and Pauline Mooney, Deputy Executive Director of SARDI to discuss the
ongoing Biosecurity review, Industry Development and renewal program,
the current Industrial dispute involving the Flaxley Dairy, concerns
raised by members about the possible closure of some country offices
and the 2009 Enterprise Bargaining offer from Government.
The
Chief Executive Officer reiterated his previous comments from the
last consultation meeting in July of 2009 where he stated that there
were no plans in place to close offices in Regional locations and
expressed his commitment to maintain and where possible enhance
PIRSA's involvement in Regional areas. In particular he was
concerned about the destabilising effect ongoing rumours about
closures may have on staff. Loxton, Minnipa and Nurioopta were
mentioned as examples of the ongoing commitment of the department to
Regional areas.
In relation to the Flaxley Dairy dispute PIRSA
acknowledged their commitment to resolve the issues as quickly as
possible with another on site meeting organised for next week. The
PSA in turn committed to pursuing the best outcome possible for
employees who should be made permanent in some capacity.
The
CEO is committed to regular ongoing Union consultative meetings
every 3 months, and ad hoc meetings as required. The positive outcome
for Grant Funded Scientists in relation to their new EB schedule was
also raised.
