TRANSLATION FROM PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS TO AHP STREAM

The Public Service Association (PSA) has been contacted by members concerned about a statement made in a memo to Executive by Human Resources, Department for Families and Communities (DFC) that has subsequently been released to staff regarding the translation of Professional Officers to the Allied Health Professional (AHP) Structure. Members are concerned that there is an implication that all officers currently at PO1, Increment level 7 must apply for peer assessment to progress to AHP2.

This is incorrect!

The South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2010 states

" Schedule 1.21A 1.4 Existing Professional Officers will translate into the new classification levels based on the following:

........(c) Level 1 - steps 6 and 7 translate to the first step of Level 2 and will be eligible to apply to a Peer Assessment Panel for assessment (as defined) to progress through the steps of level 2 not earlier than 12 months later."

Full details about the Peer Assessment Process are outlined in Appendix 5 of the Enterprise agreement
(the agreement is available here).

PSA contacted the department immediately and advised them of the omission and misunderstanding that has occurred and requested that further information be released to all affected staff to clarify the matter.
