FLINDERS MEDICAL CENTRE OHSW ISSUES

PSA members in FMC Medical Records recently contacted the PSA regarding their appalling working conditions which have resulted in many injuries. Medical Records staff have made numerous attempts to have their issues resolved and the situation has become critical.

The PSA and Worksite Representatives met with Management representatives regarding the long standing OHSW issues yesterday. This meeting provided no resolution.

PSA members in FMC Medical Records met last night and the following resolution was passed,

This meeting of PSA members are disgusted with the lack of action and commitment by Senior Management to resolve the OHSW issues of Medical Records staff, therefore members will implement the following actions commencing on Thursday 25th February, 2010 to ensure their own safety.

  1. PSA members will not work with any files that may place member's health and safety at risk,

  2. PSA members will work to rule, no hours outside of normal working hours will be worked and all members will take their breaks.

These actions will continue until the issues are resolved to the satisfaction of PSA members.

Although this situation may impact on other areas of the Hospital, PSA members in Medical Report now have no option but to take measures to protect their own Health and Safety and to prevent further injuries. PSA members in FMC are requested to understand and support their fellow PSA members in this issue.
