FAMILIES SA CRISIS RESPONSE UNIT INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Public Service Association (PSA) members from Crisis Response Unit meet on Thursday 24  February 2010 to review the proposals tabled by Department for Families and Communities (DFC) management representatives at meetings held on 11 and 18 February 2010.
PSA members passed the following resolution:

"This meeting of PSA members employed at Crisis Response Unit, accepts the proposals tabled by DFC Management representatives held on Thursday 18 February 2010, namely:


  • continue with on ground C3MS support for extended hours (all shifts except night shift)

  • data entry support

  • participation in measurement exercise to track and map the Intake and Assessment Process

  • interviews with staff to identify significant issues, impacting on a worker's ability to function in a timely and efficient manner and provide additional information

  • the establishment of 7 significant issues groups

      • CRU Families SA Officers Interface Issues

      • Multi-Phases

      • Moving into Investigation and Assessment Phases

      • Choosing Correct Risks

      • Finding person/name search

      • History

      • Supervisors/Senior Practitioners

  • Agreement that work undertaken after the end of a worker's shift will attract appropriate penalties and payments

Further, members continue to express concern regarding the proposed implementation time frame, given continually major issues with usage of C3MS and resolve to review the current suspension of bans immediately should there be any adverse impact on CRU members, caused by an unacceptable increase in workloads or reduction in C3MS support and/or training, or adverse effects to the health and welfare of members creating unacceptable outcomes for vulnerable South Australian families.”

The Public Service Association (PSA) met with DFC representatives to discuss the latest written directive to members at Magill Training Centre to supply a medical certificate for ANY absence from work.

The PSA reminded the department of their responsibility to address absenteeism on an individual basis and to appropriately counsel any member they believe is abusing the system, prior to issuing the member(s) in question with written direction.
