CONSULTATION IS A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE!
The Public Service Association (PSA) has written to the Department in relation to the lack of commitment to genuinely consult with members at Cavan and Magill Training Centres in Families SA. This is unacceptable and members have expressed their anger and disappointment at the lack of opportunity to be consulted. The Secure Care Industrial Relations Forum is a key tool to address a wide range of local issues with the minimum of hassle. Yet, these have been cancelled and many long standing issues are still unresolved. The PSA has received no further information or opportunity to discuss pertinent issues in relation to building the replacement centre for Magill or the maintenance of the existing centres. To ensure that consultation can occur in good faith, the PSA now requires an unwavering commitment to consult from the Department before agreeing to meet. The 2010 Enterprise Agreement Clause 25 Consultative Process clearly defines the employers responsibility to consult with employees and the Union representing them. PSA
