CHRISTIES BEACH POLICE STATION - HIGH WORKLOADS

On the 22 January 2010 PSA members at the Christies Beach Police Station implemented industrial strategies to assist with their unreasonable workloads.

On the 3 February 2010 a meeting was held between PSA members, PSA Industrial Officers and SAPOL management regarding the high workloads members are experiencing at the Christies Beach Police Station.

Members stated that the long term absence of two client service officers was having an adverse impact on their workloads. Two client service officers were required to perform the work previously carried out by four.

SAPOL stated that they believed that the two vacant positions at the Christies Beach Police Station was not having an impact on members workloads.

However on the 11 February 2010 after members had continued with their strategies to address the high workloads SAPOL agreed to fill one of the client service officer positions. Members were reluctant to lift the workload motion, however in a show of good faith did so.

On Tuesday 30 March members informed the PSA that the ASO 2 client service officer was not assisting them but assisting the administration manager at the station.

Therefore members have once again implemented the strategies that were first undertaken on the 22 January 2010.

The PSA is committed to ensuring all members have a reasonable workload. Industrial action will continue until the appropriate level of staff is provided to deal with the unreasonable workloads.
