MANAGEMENT'S DISGRACEFUL RESPONSE TO WORKLOAD ISSUES PSA members met on Thursday 1 April 2010 to determine ways to address workload issues that management had failed to do and by so doing failed to provide a safe working environment for their employees. Management have an obligation to address workload issues as outlined in Clause 14 of the South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) 2010 Enterprise Agreement (EA) as follows;
An email has been sent from management to all payroll staff advising them about the redistribution of work to those persons adhering to the motion passed by PSA members 1 April 2010. It is a disgrace to again impose additional workloads on staff which the PSA believe is a breach of the EA by again imposing an unsafe work environment on staff. Members have reported to the PSA that they are feeling intimidated by management who are asking staff individually, "Are you going to perform your full duties? Yes or No". When members are responding by referring to the motion of PSA members of 1 April 2010, management are stating, "we only want you to answer yes or no". The PSA says this is not acceptable. PSA members should not be pressured or intimidated and will continue to work as outlined in their motion dated 1 April 2010. This does not include taking on other work that people are unable to manage because of answering phone calls and responding to emails. The motion is very clear, "PSA members will not answer phone calls, respond to email queries, participate in statistical collection, or any CONSEQUENTIAL work generated from from phone calls or emails" If some staff are answering phones and responding to emails then the work they are unable to do cannot be passed to members adhering to the the motion. If members feel intimidated by management or asking questions that you are uncomfortable with, please refer them to Marg Jeffries 82053259 or 0417 837 270 Senior Industrial Officer PSA who will be happy to respond to any issue regarding the motion or workload issues.
