HEALTH MERGER = SERVICE CUTS
The
PSA has today been advised of the proposed merger between Central
Northern Adelaide Health Service (CNAHS) and Southern Adelaide Health
Service (SAHS).
In the briefing to the PSA and other unions Department of Health Chief
Executive, Dr Tony Sherbon advised that the amalgamation would occur
with effect from 1 July 2010.
Dr Sherbon also advised that an estimated 50-100 jobs will be lost from
Hospitals and Health Services. The new Chief Executive of the
merged organisation will be announced shortly.
Staff information sessions will be conducted from Wednesday, 28 April
2010 and PSA members are encouraged to attend. A PSA Industrial
Officer will be attending these sessions.
Dr Sherbon advised that Human Resource principles will apply, and that there will be no forced redundancies.
The PSA is particularly concerned at the impact of the job losses and
the very short time frame to develop the new amalgamated structure.
The job losees are expected to impact on already heavy workloads, with
service delivery affected by the loss of up to 100 jobs. A very
real concern is that health services will be impacted.
The PSA is also concerned at the future relationship between the
proposed organisational structure and the Local Health Networks to be
introduced under the proposed Commonwealth Government's Health Plan.
