NAPLAN TESTS
On
12th April the AEU Federal Executive imposed a moratorium on the
national NAPLAN tests, based on the view that it would be
inappropriate to use the results of the test to publicly brand
students and schools as failures in “league tables”.
The
PSA, as with all disputes involving other unions, calls upon PSA
members not to undertake the work of any colleagues taking industrial
action. This is a dispute over the role of teachers and the NAPLAN
tests. SSO duties are not affected, and SSOs should continue to only
undertake their own regular duties. It is the PSA view that SSOs can
not be required to perform tasks that clearly form part of the
professional role of teachers.
