FORESTRYSA - EB BALLOT

BACKGROUND:

Against the advice of the PSA ForestrySA conducted a ballot of staff for a proposed successor Enterprise Agreement that was intended facilitate the implementation of common employment conditions for all ForestrySA staff covered by the agreement.

Clearly ForestrySA staff agreed with the PSA as the agreement was emphatically rejected in that of the 154 staff who voted, only 43 voted “YES” while 111 voted “NO”.

WHERE TO FROM HERE ?

Presumably to recommence negotiations, ForestrySA scheduled another meeting of the Single Bargaining Centre for Tuesday 11 May. The PSA will advise all the negotiating parties to learn from the ballot result and to remain at the bargaining table until the parties have a consensus position for a new agreement which can recommended to staff.

Rather than starting from scratch, the PSA will advise that negotiations should recommence from where they were terminated circa mid April to enable the parties focus on the disputed matters, rather than wasting time revisiting and reviewing matters already agreed.

The PSA considers the only significant matter still to be negotiated and agreed is the ForestrySA Fire Fighting policy. The PSA looks forward to the opportunity to successfully address member's concerns about ForestrySA's current policy position and reiterates our intent to bargain in good faith to achieve an outcome to the mutual benefit of all parties.
