JOB & SERVICE CUTS NOT NEEDED
The Public Service Association welcomes news that one of South
Australia’s foremost experts on the labour market has today
called for a radical rethink on public sector cuts.
Associate Professor John Spoehr from the University of Adelaide has
attacked the Government’s rationale for continuing to seek $750m
in public sector cuts in today’s “Adelaide Review”,
arguing, as the PSA has, that economic conditions have changed greatly
since the cuts were announced in last year’s budget.
Professor Spoehr’s position adds further weight to the
PSA’s argument that there is no justifiable reason for the
Sustainable Budget Commission to continue with its brief to slash an
already stretched public sector.
