FAMILIES SA HR PROJECT INDUSTRIAL UPDATE

Public Service Association (PSA) Families SA Worksite Representatives met on Tuesday 1 June and were provided with a report from Senior Industrial officer Ian Peak about the meeting he attended on Friday 28 May with Department for Families and Communities (DFC) representatives to receive information about the "Families SA HR Project".

PSA has requested copies of the reports referred to in the attachment to the email sent to all Families SA staff from the Executive Director, Families SA , entitled “Related Initiatives - Workload Management and Measurement Project and Department for Child Safety, QLD - alternative employment pathways for non-tertiary qualified and tertiary qualified employees into the Care and Protection field via targeted Vocational Qualifications” as a result of Mr Peak's report. PSA also requested a copy of the Project Brief.

PSA also highlighted in its correspondence that members have been waiting for a briefing on the Workload Management and Measurement Project since December 2008. PSA has not been contacted yet by the Executive Director, Families SA about arranging the briefing, as agreed (see minutes of Families SA Industrial Relations Forum dated 30 April 2009) and requested the department undertake this commitment, at the earliest opportunity.

PSA also requested the attendance of members of the Project Steering Group at the next meeting of Families SA Worksite Representatives on Tuesday 6 July to present an update on the Project.

PSA continues to receive concerns from members about the intent of this project and possible implications for members and families in the South Australian community.
