NO MORE OPS - 2s !!!

The Public Service Association (PSA) was informed today that its battle to secure appropriate wages for members employed within Families SA Transitional Accommodation has been won!

As of 1 July 2010, all remaining Youth Support Workers will be reclassified to OPS3 Youth Worker. Members will be formally notified in writing by the Department in the coming days. Back pay will be made to 1 July 2010.

The PSA has had numerous informal discussions with the Department and other senior Government officials since its historic win in the Tribunal in November 2009. Despite the acknowledgement that members in Transitional Accommodation are under classified the Department has chosen to delay the inevitable, until now.

The PSA is pleased that members are now benefiting from a fundamental PSA principle that  members should receive a fair days pay for a fair days work!

Well done to all those involved throughout this matter! There are some members who now are in a juxtaposed position of having their subordinates classified at the same level. The PSA will raise this directly with Management.
