CAR PARKING CHARGES.
Car
parking charges are to be introduced and increased at hospitals as a
consequence of the 2010 State Budget. Staff, patients and visitors will
be affected.
The proposal, outlined in a letter from the Chief Executive SA Health to the PSA is here. Feedback to SA Health is required by 31 January 2011.
The Government's proposal is for increases to Royal Adelaide Hospital
(RAH), Women's and Children's (WCH), Flinders Medical Centre (FMC),
Queen Elizabeth (QEH), Noarlunga (NHS) and Lyell McEwin (LMH) and to
introduce charging at Modbury, Repatriation General, St Margaret's,
Hampstead and Glenside Hospitals.
The Government's proposal does not take into account the different arrangements and situations which apply.
The PSA has advised preliminary concerns and stated that employees' and
patients' car parking fees should not be used as a revenue gathering
exercise.
These changes will result in significant cost increases for many staff and patients.
