Treasurer Jack Snelling today handed down the Mid Year Budget Review (MYBR).

Prior to its delivery, the Treasurer made a courtesy call to General Secretary Jan McMahon.

Key features of the MYBR are:

  • No further job cuts announced.
  • The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) element of Shared Services will not proceed, although now agencies will incur an ICT levy(0.75% 2012-13 increasing to 1.5% in 2013-14).
  • New significant savings and revenue measures include:
Funding provided for Independent Commission Against Corruption.
           Social Inclusion Unit cut.
Additional $7.6M cost to Government for metropolitan hospital car park infrastructure.
Additional $2.5M cost to government for Department of Health & Ageing to establish a                            Resources Unit to improve "financial management" (ensure cost cutting occurs).

A more extensive analysis of the MYBR documents is currently being undertaken by PSA.
