CAMPAIGN CONTINUES
PSA Worksite Representatives last week reported strong support from members to continue the current EB Campaign, and voted to escalate the campaign. In addition to the continuation of bans across the Public Sector, many members are now engaged in a strategy involving lightning walk-outs that occur at unpredictable times and locations, and for varying amounts of time. The major groups involved in the activity last week were Courts and the Lands Titles Office. Thank you also, to the hundreds of worksites that have responded to the PSA Survey advising the particular kind of action favoured. These responses will form part of PSA strategy development. Members are also advised that a 'Without Prejudice' meeting took place late last Thursday, 8 April 2004 between Government negotiators and Senior PSA Industrial staff. The meeting was not a negotiating session, but enabled both PSA and Government representatives to explore the mechanism proposed by Government to use the Industrial Relations Commission to provide recommendations. The discussions were on a 'Without Prejudice' basis without committing either party. The PSA has neither accepted nor rejected the process, but, as always, has indicated its willingness to consider ways of resolving the current dispute, subject to members receiving a fair and reasonable outcome. Notwithstanding these discussions, PSA advised that its current campaign will continue until such time as when, or if an agreement was reached either for the full Enterprise Agreement or a process to resolve the significant differences that exist between the parties.
