MINISTER WRIGHT MISSING IN ACTION

On Wednesday 21 April 2004, Social Workers, IDSC Workers, Genetic Councilors, Child Protection Workers, Community Correction Workers and Allied Health Specialists amongst others demanded Industrial Relations Minister Michael Wright urgently intervene in the current wages dispute.

More than 200 workers from these areas formed a mass picket at the office of Minister Wright to express their anger and frustration with negotiations to date.

In addition, a delegation visited the Minister's office to deliver a letter highlighting their concerns and seeking the Minister's immediate intervention in the negotiating process.

Members have stated, for some months, that for this issue to be resolved, the Minister for Industrial Relations needs to step in and take a more “hands on” role.

State Public Sector employees need to be recognised for the vital services they provide to the community of South Australia.

The Association looks forward to meeting with Minister Wright and achieving a positive resolution to this dispute.
