MEMBERS WALK OFF THE JOB
Transport SA staff have joined the Public Sector wage campaign closing down the Adelaide Customer Service Centre which is located at 108 North Terrace. More than 20 staff walked off the job between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm on Tuesday 27 April in protest against the State Government’s final wage offer. PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon called on Industrial Relations Minister Michael Wright to ballot Public Sector workers over its pay offer in a bid to end the long-running wage dispute. She warned Public Sector workers would continue their campaign of snap strikes if the Government did not put its offer to a vote. “If the Minister is confident that his offer is fair he should now put it to a vote,’’ Ms McMahon said. “Negotiations have now been stalled for more than two months. Given the current stalemate, this is the best way to settle the dispute and the PSA would abide by the vote.’’ The Government is offering 4 per cent to the majority of Public Sector workers, but only 3.5 per cent to professionals and graduates including Child Protection Workers, Social Workers, Medical Scientists and Dental Technicians. The PSA is claiming 5 per cent a year over two years across the Public Sector. For information contact Industrial Officer Simon Johnson, on 8205 3261 or email spj@cpsu.asn.au 29/04/04 |
