ESCALATE EB CAMPAIGN 2004
PSA Worksite Representatives met on Tuesday, 4 May 2004 to discuss the current Enterprise Bargaining campaign as well as the Government's intention not to put its final offer of 4% per annum for some workers and 3.5% per annum for others to ballot. Secondly, members were angered that the Minister for Industrial Relations has refused a request to meet with a delegation of Worksite Representatives following yesterday's meeting to provide feedback on the current status of the EB. The request for such a meeting was sent to the Minister on Friday 30 April 2004. No response had been received prior to the meeting. Accordingly, following the meeting, Worksite Reps determined to march to the Minister's office and present themselves for an urgent discussion with the Minister. The Minister's office was securely locked and no-one answered the door. The PSA and its membership will continue to campaign for a fair deal. If the Government believes its offer is fair and reasonable, then it needs to go to ballot and provide employees with the opportunity to vote.
