INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMISSION UPDATE

The PSA and Government representatives attended a Voluntary Conference before Commissioner Doyle in the SA Industrial Relations Commission on Wednesday 23 June 2004.

At the Voluntary Conference a number of issues were canvassed with the PSA identifying those issues still not agreed with the Government. The Commissioner held confidential discussions separately with the PSA and other Unions and the Employer to better clarify the situation.

A further Conference will take place on Tuesday 29 June at 3pm to continue to explore the possibility of a resolution in this matter.

The PSA raised, as a preliminary matter, paid time-off for Job Representatives to attend meetings. This arose following an intention by some agencies to deduct pay for attendance at the last Job Representatives Meeting.

Commissioner Doyle's statement records the following agreement:

That in accordance with the spirit and intention of the undertakings given by the parties, the PSA Job Representatives will be given adequate time off with pay to attend meetings convened by the PSA leadership, relating to this matter.”

Worksite Representatives are reminded of the meeting to be held on Monday 28 June at 12 noon at the PSA, 122 Pirie Street.

The PSA is also to be provided with a sample of the direction provided to agencies for the establishment of an electoral roll for the purpose of conducting a ballot.
