WAGES & CONDITIONS UPDATE

A Voluntary Conference was convened earlier this week by Commissioner Doyle to explore whether any prospect existed of progressing Enterprise Bargaining negotiations.

In his written statement issued 1 September 2004 Commissioner Doyle said “...it quickly emerged that there was no reasonable prospect of a resolution...” “It would seem appropriate in the circumstances, that this matter should now proceed to Arbitration without the need for further conciliation.”

A Full Bench of the Industrial Relations Commission is scheduled to proceed to formal Arbitration on 9 September 2004. The 9 September proceedings will be for the purpose of dealing with the PSA Application for an interim increase and additional paid maternity leave to apply from 1 October 2004.

Members will be kept informed of developments.

In addition, a Worksite Representatives meeting will be held at PSA on 10 September 2004 at 12.15pm. Regional Representatives will be advised of the time for their telephone link up in accordance with normal practice.
