A NEW SHORT TERM ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT TO BE CONSIDERED

The PSA appeared before the Full Bench of the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission today. Today's appearance occurred as a result of the Full Bench Statement of the 15th of September 2004, which recommended that the parties consider a short term Enterprise Agreement.

A report was provided to PSA Worksite Representatives who supported the making of a short term Enterprise Agreement incorporating interim pay increases and extra paid maternity leave, and with the Commission arbitrating on future pay rates and maternity leave to be included in such an Agreement.

The PSA supported a short term Enterprise Agreement, in lieu of an Award, with such an agreement to protect existing entitlements and allow outstanding matters to be “Reserved” for future consideration. Such an outcome would provide employees with an interim pay increase in the near future and a process for further increases.

The Government's advocate advised that Government is prepared to agree to the making a new short term Enterprise Agreement, with further discussions between the parties to now occur quickly.

The PSA will keep members informed of progress.
