FULL BENCH DECISION UPDATE
The
Full Bench of the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission
handed down its Decision in the long running salary campaign and
arbitration case, on July 7 2005
Members will recall that the South Australian Government parity EBA offer was rejected at ballot by a majority of employees. The Government then tried to push their wages offer through by making an Award application in the Industrial Commission. The PSA opposed the application and claimed a higher wage increase. The matter therefore needed to be arbitrated. The PSA successfully argued for an Interim increase and the Full Bench awarded an Interim increase of 3.5% from October 2004. The Full Bench has determined the following salary adjustments: 1 October 2004 - ASO 1–3 (or equivalent) 4.0%, OPS4-7, TGO2-5, PSO1-3, ASO 4-6 3.75%. PSO4, MS4, DSO1, ASO 7 - 3.5% 1 October 2005 - ASO 1–3 (or equivalent) 4.0%, OPS4-7, TGO2-5, PSO1-3, ASO 4-6 - 3.75%. PSO4, MS4, DSO1, ASO 7 - 3.5% The No Extra Claims provision will operate until 1 June 2006. Payment of the new rates will take the Interim 3.5% pay increase into account. The Decision of the Full Bench is final and not subject to appeal. The full decision is available at http://www.industrialcourt.sa.gov.au/ezi_pdf/2005_saircomm_26.pdf?t=1121391234 PSA will study the Decision in detail and make further judgments in respect to outstanding and future claims.
