PSA MEETING WITH TREASURER

Treasurer Kevin Foley yesterday met with Senior PSA officials including
General Secretary, Jan McMahon, to advise that he is reviewing future
budget expenditure, in order to put additional funding into the health
sector in particular.

The Treasurer advised that he has appointed Mr Greg Smith to review
expenditure patterns and processes, emphasising that there were no staff
cut targets.

The Treasurer advised that this was not a "razor gang" proposal and that
pre-election commitments will be honoured.

PSA has been invited to provide comment.

Members will be kept informed of developments and also should advise the
PSA of issues that they consider relevant.
