MODBURY HOSPITAL PROJECT 

The PSA met with Senior officers of the SA Department of Health on Wednesday 24 May 2006 to discuss the process to date of the State Government announcement to return the Modbury Hospital to the SA State Government Health Care system.

Discussions have been ongoing between the State Government and Healthscope for some time.

The PSA was advised that the current process of transition of Modbury Hospital may take some months. A comprehensive Due diligence process is currently being undertaken by Mr Andrew Atkinson, Executive Consultant Department of Health, who would address such matters as staffing, finances and administrative arrangements.

PSA indicated that it would continue to seek commitments from Government that should Modbury Hospital return to SA Government management then we would expect that all services currently outsourced to external providers be returned to State Government control.

CONSULTATION PROCESS

Consultation in the future will be through various forums as follows:

• Department of Health Industrial Liaison Committee.

• Central Northern Adelaide Health Service Industrial Liaison committee.
