DISABILITY REFORM

The Public Service Association is ensuring that all issues and concerns arising from the Public Sector reform in DFC and the proposed changes to the Disability sector are addressed and/or resolved promptly.

PSA has representation on the Disability Services Reform Taskforce, chaired by Robbi Williams (yet to commence) and the Disability Reform HR Taskforce, chaired by Natalie Hamood.

Members are encouraged to access the various methods of communication within the Department to gain up-to-date information. The first Disability communique will be posted out to individual staff as not all employees have access to electronic copies.

The first meeting of the Disability HR Task Force occurred this week and the agreed Terms of Reference are:

To provide advice to the Implementation Steering Committee and develop and implement strategies in relation to the following:

  • human resources principles for transition

  • industrial implications

  • transitional arrangements for filling vacancies

  • redeployment arrangements

  • training requirements

  • workforce planning (e.g. Skill sets required)

  • FBT issues

The Draft Human Resource Transition Document for Disability was tabled for discussion at the next meeting.

The PSA understands there is a similar draft document already up on the DFC intranet for the Housing realignment for staff comments.

PSA is pursuing additional information which will make it clear how any required staff relocations will occur. Currently the only reference is to volunteers.

Any comments or concerns please email Industrial Officer Sue Cummins on sc@cpsu.asn.au or telephone 8205 3260.
