SPECIAL LEAVE WITH PAY - DEFENCE RESERVISTS.Recently the PSA wrote to the Chief Executive of the Department for Administrative and Information Services (DAIS) raising concerns raised by members who are in the Defence Reserves seeking an increase in the Special Leave with Pay entitlement from 20 days to 30 days per annum. This is due to the fact that the current commitments by the Australian Defence Forces has seen Reservists being called upon more frequently. In fact other states, including Queensland, have recently increased the special leave with pay to 30 days. DAIS has responded this week with a commitment that the Public Sector Workforce Relations (PSWR) has undertaken research, including interstate comparisons in connection to this issue and will consider the PSA proposal in the annual review of the Commissioner's Standards. This review is to commence shortly with interested parties including the PSA being consulted. PSA members, who are Defence Reservists, who are experiencing difficulties due to the increased activities are encouraged to email Gayle Peak at gp@cpsu.asn.au PSA WORKING FOR DEFENCE RESERVISTS 26 July 2006 |
