Upper House Campaign

The State Government's proposed Referendum on the role of the Upper House, the Legislative Council, will not proceed. - more details are here.

The Legislative Council
continues to play a valuable role in the defence of PSA members and other workers by reviewing and often amending bills that have passed through the lower house of state Parliament. However, this is a role often under attack in the media and by some political parties. The PSA believes that the Legislative Council can and should continue to carry out this important role in the community. The Association has produced a video on the role that the Legislative Council plays. The video is available on this site or at YouTube. The transcript of a detailed ABC radio interview with Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher on the Legislative Council is available here.
