SA HEALTH INDUSTRIAL LIAISON COMMITTEE 24 December 2008 On Friday 19 December 2008 the PSA attended and Industrial Liaison Committee meeting in SA Health. QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS FORUM. 24 December 2008 The PSA attends regular bi-monthly meetings with TQEH Management and was represented by PSA Industrial Officer Margie Lindley at the most recent meeting. CAVAN MEMBERS DEMAND A SAFE WORKPLACE! 23 December 2008 PSA members at Families SA's Cavan Youth Training Centre attended a meeting on 19th December 2008 to discuss the serious incidents that occurred on the 17th December 2008. COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH UPDATE 23 December 2008 On Monday 15 December 2008, the Public Service Association met with Mr Derek Wright (Director of Operations) and Mr Mark Diamond (Executive Director Strategy Implementation), for Mental Health Directorate in SA Health. SHARED SERVICES CAMPAIGN 19 December 2008 PSA members in health conducted an industrial campaign to reduce the adverse effects of positions and services being transferred to Shared Services SA. 1600 PUBLIC SECTOR JOBS SLASHED! 19 December 2008 Treasurer Foley announced in today's mid year Budget Review that 1600 public sector jobs would be slashed over the next three years. CORRECTIONS LEAVE PAYMENTS 17 December 2008 On Wednesday 10 December as a result of motions passed to commence industrial action due to the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) failing to pay Recreation Leave Loading underpayments the Public Service Association (PSA) was required to attend an urgent South Australian Industrial Relations Commission Voluntary Conference. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH INDUSTRIAL FORUM 16 December 2008 On Friday 21 November 2008, the PSA attended an Industrial Liaison Forum at Department of Health. CORRECTIONAL SERVICES BACK PAY DISPUTE 12 December 2008 The SA Industrial Relations Commission has recommended that each affected worker receive their back payment as soon as possible. WHAT'S GOING ON IN LAND SERVICES GROUP? 10 December 2008 The PSA is consulting with Land Services Group management over many issues and this brief is a summary of those issues. PRECAUTIONARY TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING 10 December 2008 PSA/CPSU has received advice from Dr Tony Sherbon, Chief executive Department of Health, of an offer of precautionary tuberculosis (TB) screening to approximately 300 patients and some staff at the Women and Children's Hospital. ANNUAL WOMEN'S CONFERENCE 10 December 2008 The PSA Annual Women's Conference is an important tradition on the PSA Calendar. In 2009 the conference will be held on the 18th of February. COMMISSIONER'S STATEMENT RE SHARED SERVICES CONFERENCE 9 December 2008 Members were previously advised that the PSA had requested a Voluntary Conference in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) about concerns regarding the transfer of Health employees to Shared Services SA. SA DENTAL SERVICE INDUSTRIAL LIAISON FORUM 9 December 2008 The PSA attends regular bi-monthly meetings with SA Dental Service Management and was represented by PSA Industrial Officer Margie Lindley at the November meeting. MINDA UNION COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT 5 December 2008 The Minda Incorporated Union Collective Agreement No. 6 will reach it's nominal expiry date shortly. SHARED SERVICES REFERRAL TO THE IRC 3 December 2008 The PSA has referred a number of concerns to the Industrial Relations Commission. FAMILIES SA INDUSTRIAL ACTION UPDATE 3 December 2008 PSA Worksite Representatives met on Tuesday 2nd December to discuss the Department for Families and Communities response to members demands. SHARED SERVICES 27 November 2008 On Wednesday 26 November 2008 the PSA received a response from Under Treasurer Jim Wright agreeing to the four matters put forward by PSA members at the meeting of Monday 24 November 2008. SHARED SERVICES 25 November 2008 Earlier today PSA members in Payroll and Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable who are scheduled to transition to Shared Services SA, met to discuss a revised Government offer dated 20 November 2008. EDUCATION ENTERPRISE BARGAINING ORDERS OF THE INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION 25 November 2008 Following on from the PSA brief dated 20th November 2008, here is the Statement and Orders from the Industrial Commission. These Orders are still in place from this morning. EDUCATION STRIKE NOT PROCEEDING 21 November 2008 The Industrial Relations Commission made an order late yesterday afternoon Thursday 20 November 2008 directing that the strike planned for today, Friday 21 November not proceed. WHAT'S GOING ON IN DFEEST AND TAFE SA? 20 November 2008 PSA is consulting with DFEEST and TAFE SA over many issues. SHARED SERVICES BANS STAY ON 17 November 2008 PSA members at the meeting held on Monday 17 November 2008 unanimously endorsed the Status Quo bans implemented on the evening of Wednesday 12 November 2008 and resolved for these bans to continue. FAMILIES SA INDUSTRIAL ACTION UPDATE 13 November 2008 Families SA PSA Worksite Representatives met on Tuesday 11th November 2008 to receive a report from Industrial Officers in relation to the Industrial campaign currently underway in Families SA and to decide upon further action. SHARED SERVICES BANS BACK ON 12 November 2008 Bans to enforce the Status Quo, as per Clause 23.2 of the Enterprise Agreement, have now been re-imposed. SA PATHOLOGY - CONSOLIDATION OF TESTS AND PLATFORMS 12 November 2008 The PSA has been advised of a series of staff meetings to be held across the new Directorate within SA Pathology (SAP) this week. BANS LIFTED IN SHARED SERVICES DISPUTE 11 November 2008 A meeting of PSA members affected by the transfer of positions to Shared Services today resolved to immediately lift all bans and limitations. FAMILIES SA INDUSTRIAL ACTION UPDATE 6 November 2008 PSA Industrial Officers met with Department for Families and Communities representatives on 4 November to discuss a range of matters raised previously with the Minister and Chief Executive. SHARED SERVICES DISPUTE 6 November 2008 The PSA Shared Services meeting held on Wednesday 5th November was very well attended. Members from all metropolitan health units & hospitals attended to talk about the concerns they have with the proposed move to Shared Services SA (SSSA). Country members were involved via a telephone hook up. SHARED SERVICES CAMPAIGN 5 November 2008 A meeting of PSA members employed by the Department of Health held today, the 5 November 2008, resolved to escalate bans in view of the Government's refusal to meaningfully negotiate in the Shared Services Dispute. NEW PRISON DELAYED 30 October 2008 In State Parliament today, Treasurer Foley announced that the building of the State's primary Correctional facility at Murray Bridge has been delayed. FAMILIES SA INDUSTRIAL ACTION TO COMMENCE IMMEDIATELY 29 October 2008 Families SA Worksite Representatives today passed a motion instituting an industrial campaign. SHARED SERVICES SA DISPUTE BACK IN THE COMMISSION 28 October 2008 The Government has requested an urgent compulsory conference in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) and will be seeking orders that all bans be lifted. CONCERNS FOR CHILDREN AT RISK 27 October 2008 On Monday 27th October 2008 the PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon, Vice President Peter Hewish, a delegation of PSA Worksite Representatives and Senior Industrial Officers Vanessa Ravenhill and Simon Johnson met with Minister Rankine. BANS BACK ON SHARED SERVICES 27 October 2008 PSA members met on Friday 24 October and decided to reimpose bans related to Shared Services. PAY RISE 24 October 2008 Most PSA members ought to receive their 3.5% per annum salary increase today. THIRD E.A. PAY RISE 24 October 2008 The third E. A. pay rise applies to members employed in the Professional Stream and as Medical scientists from the first completed full pay period on or after 1 October 2008. MAGILL FAMILIES SA MEMBERS DEMAND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE 23 October 2008 PSA members at Magill Secure Care attended a meeting on 17th October to discuss the current status of safety measures at the Magill Youth Training Centre. SALARIES, TRAINEE WAGES AND ALLOWANCES 23 October 2008 As a result of the State Wage Case decision of 20th August 2008 to increase award rates of pay for adults by $26 per week from the first full pay period on or after 1st October 2008, government trainees will receive a pay increase and many allowances for PSA members will increase by 3.978% from the same date. WORKCOVER MEMBERS REJECT MANAGEMENT PROPOSAL 23 October 2008 A meeting of PSA/CPSU and FSU members on Wednesday 22 October unanimously rejected a management proposal for a new Certified Agreement. FAMILIES SA PO STREAM PROGRESSION UPDATE 21 October 2008 PSA Families SA Worksite Representatives held a meeting on the 14th October 2008 and discussed the latest changes to the continuing Social Work Targeted Classification Assessment Process (T-CAP). SHARED SERVICES SA EMPLOYER OF CHOICE? 21 October 2008 For some people Shared Services SA is the employer of choice. But for the vast majority of employees, Shared Services SA is NOT the employer of choice. GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES NEW DEPARTMENT 16 October 2008 The PSA was advised earlier today that a number of agencies currently working within Primary Industries and Resources SA will be transferred to Planning SA from next month to create a new Department of Planning and Local Government. AUDITOR-GENERAL CONCERNED WITH SHARED SERVICES 16 October 2008 The Auditor-General's Annual Report for the year ended 30 June 2008 was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday 14 October 2008. PRISON OVERCROWDING 13 October 2008 A PSA meeting of Worksite Representatives from Yatala Labour Prison, Pt. Augusta Prison, Pt Lincoln Prison, Cadell Training Centre, the Adelaide Remand Centre and Mobilong Prison was held on Monday 13 October 2008 at 1 pm to discuss the ongoing overcrowding in South Australian Public Prisons. FAMILIES SA CRISIS RESPONSE UNIT BANS GO ON 13 October 2008 Crisis Response Unit (CRU) members met at 3.00 on Friday 10 October and resolved to implement work bans from 7 am Monday 13th October 2008. SHARED SERVICES BANS SUSPENDED 10 October 2008 PSA members affected by the proposed transfer of jobs to Shared Services SA had a meeting at the PSA earlier today (Friday 10 October) to consider the recommendations from the Industrial Relations Commission. SHARED SERVICES MEETING 9 October 2008 A meeting has been arranged for members to hear an update report and to consider recommendations from the Industrial Relations Commission of SA. GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE CONTRACT POLICY 7 October 2008 PSA is pursuing in a variety of ways an issue relating to Executive Officers following the change in government policy that led to contracts being offered without 'fall-back'. FAMILIES SA CRU MEMBERS VOTE TO ACT 30 September 2008 Families SA Crisis response Unit members met on 26 September to consider the response from the Families SA Executive to issues raised first on 22 August. They have decided that the response is inadequate. LEAVE FOR CARING FOR SICK CHILDREN 29 September 2008 The PSA has received concerns from members regarding their rights to paid time off work to care for sick children and the use of special leave with pay. PSA MEETING WITH CE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH 29 September 2008 The Public Service Association meets regularly with the Department of Health Chief Executive Dr Tony Sherbon WORK TO RULE 19 September 2008 PSA members at the Shared Services meeting, held at the PSA on 19th September 2008, endorsed the taking of Industrial Action to pursue PSA claims re Governments proposals for positions moving to Shared Services SA. This action included work to rule. SHARED SERVICES BANS AND LIMITATIONS 19 September 2008 A well attended meeting held at the PSA on Friday 19 September 2008 at 12.30 pm, which included regional members, passed a motion imposing bans and limitations. DOMICILIARY CARE SA PMA WORKING GROUP 8 September 2008 The Para Medical Aide (PMA) Working Group met on the 27th of August 2008 to continue identifying additional hours, new positions and extra opportunities for Para Medical Aides (PMAs). (CHSA) has been provided with a draft copy of the 2008-2010 Country Health SA Hospital Workforce Services Plan. GLENSIDE CAMPUS TRANSITION DRAFT HR PRINCIPLES & PROCEDURES 27 August 2008 The Transition Consultative Committee has now agreed, in principle, to the draft Human Resources (HR) Principles and Procedures that will guide the process of managing staff who may be affected by the transition of services at the Glenside Campus. OVER 300 PUBLIC HEALTH JOBS TO LOST IN THE COUNTRY 27 August 2008 Due to the State Government's decisions over 300 positions in country health will be transferred to the city based Shared Services SA. PHARMACEUTICAL REFORMS IN SA PUBLIC HOSPITALS 27 August 2008 Advice has been received from the Department of Health on the agreement to participate in a process of Pharmaceutical reform in public hospitals. ROYAL ADELAIDE HOSPITAL MRI DISPUTE 24 June 2008 On 30 May 2008, the PSA endorsed industrial action by members employed in the MRI section of the Radiography Department of the Royal Adelaide Hospital. WORKCOVER - WHAT THE CHANGES MEAN TO YOU AND WHAT YOU CAN DO. 23 June 2008 The Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1986 and the WorkCover Corporation Act 1994 have been passed in State Parliament. DENTAL THERAPISTS AND DENTAL HYGIENISTS 23 June 2008 The PSA has written to the Department of Health on behalf of several members who are Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists. SA PATHOLOGY SERVICE COMMENCES JULY 1 20 June 2008 The Statutes Amendment and Repeal (Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science) Bill 2008 passed through both Houses of Parliament yesterday enabling the commencement of SA Pathology. The Bill is expected to be proclaimed on 1 July 2008. UNIVERSITY LOG OF CLAIMS 13 June 2008 CPSU lodged the CPSU (SPSF) Log of Claims for new Union Collective Agreements at the 3 South Australian Universities on 6/6/08. Similar claims are being lodged at all Australian universities by all unions involved in the negotiations. STOPWORK ACTION On Tuesday 17 June 2008, there will be a 24 hour stop work action held as part of a campaign to put pressure on the Government to improve their current Enterprise Bargaining offer to DECS staff. The Legislative Council will sit on June 3-5 and will deal with approximately 150 amendments to WorkCover legislation. DFEEST ASO 42 WEEK CONTRACT UPDATE 2 June 2008 The PSA received a tremendous amount of feedback from the membership in relation to the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) proposal pf introducing 42 week contracts. OPERATIONAL CHANGES AT SERVICE SA 2 June 2008 On Thursday 22 May 2008 PSA Industrial staff met with the Director Service SA to discuss the ongoing operational changes implemented art Service SA. REPATRIATION GENERAL HOSPITAL INDUSTRIAL LIAISON FORUM 2 June 2008 The PSA attended the Repatriation General Hospital Industrial Liaison Forum held on Monday 26 May 2008. REVIEW OF HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMPLAINTS ACT 2004 28 May 2008 The PSA has been advised by Dr Tony Sherbon, Chief Executive Department of Health, of the commencement of the Review of the Health and Community Services Complaints Act 2004. WORKERS COMPENSATION - DO YOU HAVE ANY CURRENT ENTITLEMENT ? 22 May 2008 The PSA is continuing to campaign against the Governments WorkCover legislation which will harm injured workers. GOVERNMENT DENIES JUSTICE 21 May 2008 The PSA has great concerns over attempts by Government to deny members the right to have grievances heard by the 'independent umpire', the Industrial Relations Commission. MARJORIE JACKSON-NELSON HOSPITAL PRECINCT MASTER PLAN 21 May 2008 On Wednesday 14 May 2008 PSA Industrial Officer Dolly Costello attended a briefing on the Marjorie Nelson-Jackson Hospital Precinct Master Plan. FAMILIES SA BOUNDARY REALIGNMENT PROJECT UPDATE 20 May 2008 The PSA received correspondence from the Department for Families and Communities on 9 May 2008 concerning the process for calling vacancies in District Centres to finalisation of the Boundary Realignment Project. PAYMENT WHEN RECALLED TO WORK CLARIFIED 16 May 2008 Earlier this year the PSA became aware that some members were not being paid correctly when recalled to work. PUBLIC SECTOR BILL 10 April 2008 PSA was advised last night by Minister Weatherill that submissions made in respect of the draft Public Sector Bill 2008 are being considered by Government. Some amendments to the legislation are being made, although details have not yet been advised to the PSA. The revised Bill will be the subject of discussions with PSA. METRO HOSPITAL EFFICIENCY AND PERFORMANCE REVIEW 7 April 2008 The Paxton Report on Metropolitan Hospital Efficiency and Performance has now been released by the Minister for Health. "BULLYING IN THE WORKPLACE" TASK FORCE 21 January 2008 The task force was established in response to a recognised growing risk in the workplace to South Australian Health staff of violent and aggressive behaviour from non-employees, in particular, patients. The terms of reference have been expanded to include bullying of staff by other staff.
