It has come to the attention of the PSA that another Union has put out a publication which suggests that professionals working in the public sector should have their own Professional Indemnity Insurance. This is not correct.

The Chief Executive of Department of Health has written to the PSA advising that the management/leadership allowance is payable to eligible Dental Officers (DSOs in addition to the 10% attraction allowance and is considered as part of base salary in the calculations of employee entitlements.

Earlier this year the PSA raised concerns with the Department of Health regarding the interpretation of the translation date for the Managerial Allowance, now that PO-3/PO-4/PO-5s were eligible for this new Allowance, which forms part of the new Professional Officer Structure within the SA Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2006.
