PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE 22 July 2010 It has come to the attention of the PSA that another Union has put out a publication which suggests that professionals working in the public sector should have their own Professional Indemnity Insurance. This is not correct. STATEWIDE PAEDIATRIC SPEECH PATHOLOGY SERVICE 13 July 2010 The Government has proposed that there should be a single statewide paediatric service. ADELAIDE HEALTH SERVICE - UPDATE NO. 1 1 June 2010 SA Health is reforming the administration of the public health system TRANSLATION FROM PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS TO AHP STREAM 9 February 2010 Members are concerned that there is an implication that all DFC officers currently at PO1, Increment level 7, must apply for peer assessment to progress to AHP2. DRAFT MODEL OF CARE FOR CAMHS 27 August 2009 The PSA has written to the Director Mental Health Operations at Department of Health regarding the draft Model of Care for CAMHS CHILDREN YOUTH & WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVICE RESTRUCTURE 20 August 2009 The PSA has received a letter from the Women's and Children's Hospital advising that a number of PSA members working in Disability Services will be affected by an organisational restructure. PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY 6 July 2009 The PSA has become aware that some Professional Officers are concerned that they might not be covered by Professional Indemnity whilst at work. EA FOCUS GROUP 30 June 2009 The PSA is currently developing a special Enterprise Agreement (EA) claim on behalf of Allied and Scientific Health Professionals. MEETING WITH CHIEF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH 11 June 2009 On Tuesday 2 June 2009 the PSA met with Tony Sherbon, Chief Executive, Department of Health and Mr Etienne Scheepers, Executive Director Workforce Development, as part of regular consultation. MENTAL HEALTH UNIT RESTRUCTURE 2007 14 December 2007 The PSA has received a draft copy of the proposed organisational chart reflecting the Department of Health Mental Health Unit. PROFESSIONAL WORK LEVEL DEFINITIONS REVIEW 10 December 2007 The Public Sector Workforce Division (PSWD) has written to the PSA outlining the process to guide the review of the new classification structure for Professional Officers, Medical Scientists and Grant Funded Scientists. RIGHTS TO PRIVATE PRACTICE 21 November 2007 The PSA commenced negotiations with the Department of Health in February 2007 to develop a policy and an agreement for Rights to Private Practice. MENTAL HEALTH DISPUTE 21 November 2007 The PSA has lodged a dispute with Central Northern Adelaide Health Service (CNAHS) regarding the under-classification of the multi-classified Mental Health Team Leader positions. DOMICILIARY CARE PO STREAM WORKING GROUP 2 November 2007 There are a number of issues that affect PSA members classified in the Professional Stream. DENTISTS DEAL UPDATE 31 October 2007 The Chief Executive of Department of Health has written to the PSA advising that the management/leadership allowance is payable to eligible Dental Officers (DSOs in addition to the 10% attraction allowance and is considered as part of base salary in the calculations of employee entitlements. MEDICAL IMAGING CLASSIFICATION REVIEW 26 October 2007 PSA has had further discussions with officers in the Department of Health. SECOND E.A. PAY RISE 12 October 2007 The 2006 Enterprise Agreement (EA) included a new career structure for Professional Officers and Medical Scientists. HONOURED CLOSURE OF HIGH DEPENDENCY UNIT PSA TO ENSURE DENTIST DEAL IS HONOURED 27 September 2007 PSA has recently become aware of some alarming statements that have been issued by the Department of Health Chief Executive, Dr Tony Sherbon. WORK LEVEL DEFINITIONS 26 September 2007 The Public Service Association (PSA) is actively pursuing the impending review of the Work Level Definitions for Professional Officers and Medical scientists. PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS MANAGERIAL ALLOWANCE WIN! 20 September 2007 Earlier this year the PSA raised concerns with the Department of Health regarding the interpretation of the translation date for the Managerial Allowance, now that PO-3/PO-4/PO-5s were eligible for this new Allowance, which forms part of the new Professional Officer Structure within the SA Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2006. PSA SECURES IMPROVED OFFER FOR DENTISTS 8 August 2007 Earlier today the State's public dentists voted to accept an improved recruitment and retention offer from the Department of Health. DENTAL CRISIS CONTINUING 24 July 2007 The Public Service Association met with SA Dental Officers this morning to report back the recommendations from yesterday's South Australian Industrial Relations Commission voluntary conference before Commissioner Doyle. MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS MEETING 23 July 2007 On Monday 16 July 2007 PSA Representatives met with Health Chief Executive Dr Tony Sherbon and Executive Director of Operations Mr David Swan to discuss members ' concerns in relation to the provision of mental health services. GOVERNMENT FAILS TO ADDRESS DENTISTS' CONCERNS 18 July 2007 The South Australian Government has today refused to take steps to address recruitment and retention concerns of Public Sector Dentists. OVERVIEW DRAFT HEALTH CARE BILL 2007 18 July 2007 The Health Care Plan (released June 2007) proposes to establish a vision for the provision of health services and infrastructure in South Australia, in providing an integrated health care system. RESPONSE TO DENTISTS FROM DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH 17 July 2007 The PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon met with officials from the Department of Health on Tuesday 17 July over the Dental Officers dispute. PRIVATE PRACTICE FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS 13 July 2007 The PSA had discussions today (13 July 2007) with the Department of Health regarding the Principles. DENTAL BANS LIFTED 10 July 2007 Dental Officers have endorsed the lifting of all industrial bans and limitations pending a substantive response by the Department of Health. DENTAL DISPUTE - COMMISSIONER'S RECOMMENDATIONS 9 July 2007 In summary, the Commissioner did not consider that PSA members were constrained by the 'no further claims' clause of the 2006 Enterprise Agreement. DENTAL DISPUTE - BANS NOT TO ESCALATE 5 July 2007 PSA Dental Officers met on the 5th of July and passed a motion to continue the current bans but not to escalate. RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF DENTAL OFFICERS 28 June 2007 The Public Service Association (PSA) represents all categories of staff with the South Australian Dental Service (SADS) and has represented members on many issues. FREE DENTAL SERVICE 25 June 2007 In addition to the work bans unanimously endorsed by PSA Dental Officers, the following motion was also passed: "That this meeting of PSA Dental Officers will continue work bans and the campaign in support of improved wages and conditions, and further resolve to increase action, including the provision of free dental treatment if no positive response is received from the Department of Health" DENTISTS BANS TO ESCALATE 21 June 2007 The work bans voted on at the Dentists Stop Work meeting on Tuesday 19 June were unanimously endorsed and others were added at a meeting of PSA Dental Officer members. DENTISTS IMPOSE BANS 20 June 2007 At 4 pm yesterday (19 June 2007), Public Sector Dentists attended a stop work meeting at the PSA. PSA DISPUTES DELAY IN SOCIAL WORKER ASSESSMENT PROCESS 5 June 2007 The PSA officially advised the Department of Health on Wednesday 30 May that the parties are in dispute due to the failure by the health units to assess all Mental Health Social Workers. RESEARCH MONEY DROUGHT 23 May 2007 Many members in DEH who are undertaking research have indicated that the 2006 Budget money has dried up and are now awaiting this years budget money to hit the coffers before finalising or undertaking further research. PSA WELCOMES MODBURY HOSPITAL BUY-BACK 24 April 2007 The Public Service Association has welcomed today's announcement that the Modbury Hospital will return to public ownership and operation. DISABILITY SERVICES DISPUTE MEETING 26 March 2007 PSA members are seriously concerned that people with disabilities continue to suffer unnecessarily because services are not available. DISABILITY SERVICES IN DISARRAY! 23 March 2007 In a letter dated 21 March to the PSA, the Chief Executive of the Department for Families and Communities has conceded that Disability SA will review all service delivery position vacancies to contain current cost pressure. MICROBIOLOGY & INFECTIOUS DISEASES LABORATORY WORKLOAD 23 March 2007 On Thursday 22 March, PSA members at Flinders Medical Centre met to discuss the management response to an excessive workload issue. DISPUTE REGARDING CLASSIFICATION OF PROFESSIONALS 8 March 2007 The PSA has written to the State Library of SA Director over concerns that Professional positions are increasingly being advertised in the ASO stream instead of the PO stream. IMPLEMENTATION OF PROFESSIONAL CLASSIFICATION STRUCTURE 23 February 2007 There were a number of issues raised by the PSA with Government in relation to the implementation of the new Professional Classification structure. These matters have now been resolved. PSYCHOLOGISTS RIGHTS TO PRIVATE PRACTICE 19 February 2007 A meeting between the PSA and the Department of Health has discussed the introduction of Private Practice rights for Clinical Psychologists employed in the State Government Health Sector. IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURE 19 January 2007 PSA and Government officers from Public Sector Workforce Relations (PSWR) met to continue discussions about the translation and implementation of the new Professional Officers and Medical Scientists structures in the latest Parity Agreement 2006. NEW PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURE WAS ALWAYS TO BE REVIEWED 19 December 2006 On 12 December 2006 the PSA restated that the classification criteria for the Professional Stream (PO) and Medical Scientists (MeS) as proposed by government were always to be reviewed. NEW PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURE TO BE IMPLEMENTED 12 December 2006 Following on from the resounding "YES" vote from government employees for the 2006 Enterprise Agreement, the new structure for those in the Professional Stream and Medical Scientists will soon be implemented, back-dated to the 1st pay day on or after the 1st October 2006. HEALTH RECLASSIFICATION CONFIRMED 17 November 2006 Early this morning, the PSA was advised that the Department of Health will honour the General manager, Flinders Medical Centre's decision to reclassify Radiographers, Sonographers and Technicians in Medical Imaging. NEW PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURE EB2006 16 November 2006 Improvements to the Work Level Definitions have been negotiated by the PSA to ensure increased promotional opportunities and improvements in pay for PSA members. PSA WINS FOR RADIOLOGY STAFF 10 November 2006 The PSA has won the Flinders Medical Centre reclassification dispute. PSA EXPANDS ITS CAMPAIGN TO VALUE PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS. 12 July 2006 Three new billboards, in addition to the current eight already erected, have been placed at prominent main road sites in metropolitan Adelaide.The latest bill boards promote the valuable work performed by our professional members including allied health professionals, engineers and social workers.
